About The Position

As a Machine Operator at Wheatland Tube a division of Zekelman Industries , Rochelle, IL, you will be responsible for setting up and operating high-speed equipment with robotic elements to form or cut steel to specified dimensions and specifications. Requirements

Manufacturing or related industrial experience, preferably in a production environment.
High school diploma or equivalent preferred.
Ability to read and write English and maintain accurate production records and logs.
Ability to perform basic math, including addition, subtraction, decimals, and fractions.
Experience using measuring devices such as tape measures, micrometers, and calipers.
Ability to operate forklifts, cranes, and other equipment necessary for job completion.
Strong attention to detail with the ability to work independently.
Commitment to leading and promoting health and safety work practices in accordance with regulatory agencies and company policy.
Ability to move objects using abdominal and lower back muscles for support over time without fatigue.
Constant movement and use of limbs requiring good manual dexterity, coordination, and stamina.
Ability to remain in a stationary position for several hours as needed.
Ability to lift, climb, bend, stoop, push, and pull.
Ability to lift up to 60 pounds.
Ability to stand for 10–12 hours.
Ability to work in a plant/manufacturing environment.

Responsibilities

Observe all safety and Lockout/Tagout (LOTO) rules to operate equipment efficiently and effectively.
Perform advanced setup and calibration of equipment to meet production requirements.
Inspect materials for quality issues before, during, and after production runs.
Record and report any quality deficiencies to the supervisor or quality department.
Maintain equipment tooling and tools necessary for job completion.
Diagnose equipment and quality issues while minimizing scrap and production delays.
Perform housekeeping tasks to keep work areas clean and safe.
Complete reports related to production, changeovers, and scrap material.
Assist maintenance with repairs and preventive maintenance activities.
Participate in continuous improvement initiatives.
Perform other duties as assigned.
Maintain regular, full-time, predictable onsite attendance as an essential function of the role.
