About The Position

The Chemical Process Operator at Perstorp Polyols, Inc. is responsible for maintaining, monitoring, and controlling the operations of process equipment in a chemical manufacturing environment. This role involves managing emergency situations, performing preventive maintenance, and ensuring compliance with safety and environmental policies. The position requires working 12-hour rotating shifts, including weekends and holidays, and may involve on-call and overtime work depending on business needs.

Requirements

  • High School Diploma or GED required; 3rd Class Stationary Engineer's license and/or High-Pressure Boiler License (State of Ohio) required.
  • 3+ years of experience in a manufacturing environment, preferably in a chemical plant, refinery, power plant, or similar industry, including military equivalent.
  • Experience with distillation, filtration, separation, storage, shipping, chemical reactions, and strong knowledge of batch and continuous chemical manufacturing.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Word) and Emerson Delta V DCS experience.
  • Adhere to all safety regulations, demonstrate excellent safety skills, and possess good mechanical aptitude.
  • Basic computer literacy (Windows OS, Microsoft Office), ability to work independently and collaboratively, and be self-directed, motivated, and organized.

Responsibilities

  • Monitor, operate, and perform preventive maintenance on chemical process units, ensuring safe and environmentally sound practices.
  • Conduct routine equipment checks, accurately read levels, pressures, and temperatures, and perform minor maintenance or oversee repairs with the Maintenance Department.
  • Responsible for the safe start-up and shutdown of equipment, troubleshooting process and equipment deficiencies, and communicating issues to the Shift Manager.
  • Adhere to all safety, environmental, and Control of Work (CoW) policies and procedures, while performing tasks primarily with minimal supervision.
  • Understand and execute written and verbal instructions, functioning effectively as part of the Operations team to achieve site goals.
