About The Position

A Chemical Process Operator at Chromalloy performs chemical and mechanical processes, often involving coatings, to manufacture critical turbine engine components.

Requirements

  • Typically requires a high school diploma or equivalent, with many positions preferring several years of experience in a manufacturing or chemical process environment.
  • Essential for accurately monitoring processes, following specifications, and maintaining quality standards.
  • A meticulous approach to safety, particularly when handling hazardous chemicals and operating heavy machinery.
  • The ability to work collaboratively with a team and communicate effectively with supervisors, engineers, and other employees.
  • Competence in reading and interpreting blueprints, work instructions, and procedural manuals.
  • The ability to perform basic shop mathematics, including measurements and calculations.

Responsibilities

  • Executing production runs to coat high pressure turbine blades, including, but not limited to grit blast, ultrasonic cleaning, high temperature burnout furnaces, etc.
  • Assisting in the overall production of parts, which can involve blending surfaces, mixing production materials, and using hand tools or machinery.
  • Setting up, operating, and performing preventative maintenance on a variety of machines, including furnaces, coating equipment, sandblasting units, and other manufacturing machinery.
  • Performing periodic cleaning of equipment.
  • Confirming that all work meets production specifications and quality control standards. This includes maintaining accurate process logs, travelers, and other documentation for traceability.
  • Strictly following all safety protocols, wearing required personal protective equipment (PPE), and adhering to environmental regulations for chemical use and waste disposal.
  • Embracing and implementing lean principles and other continuous improvement initiatives within the department.
