Position Summary: The Chemical Operators work on a rotating shift team, focusing on field and control room chemical unit operations for safely running process systems and associated equipment during their shift. Typical duties of the operator role include but are not limited to the following: The Field Operator operates field equipment, draws process samples and prepares equipment for maintenance. The Control Room Operator monitors and operates equipment and facilities which includes combustion units, scrubbers, absorption towers, heat exchangers, and tanks via the Distributed Control System (DCS). Summary of the Main Responsibilities: Adhere to standard work and standard operating procedures to ensure unit safety, quality and production goals are met Responsible to take and interpret readings on various equipment assessing any variation to standard troubleshooting and taking action to bring the process back to standard Troubleshoot process issues and take corrective action to ensure a safe and sustainable operating area Ability to handle and work with highly hazardous chemicals and the ability to wear and work in full body PPE (personal protective equipment) Effectively communicating and escalating processes upsets and/or equipment issues within the organization
