About The Position

The Chemical Strip Operator is responsible for performing various tasks related to tank maintenance, sample submission to the lab, and ensuring compliance with safety and quality standards. The operator will wear required personal protective equipment (PPE) and maintain logbooks while performing duties such as waxing parts, grit blasting, heat tinting, and conducting strip inspections. The role also involves documenting shop travelers, performing minor equipment maintenance, and adhering to corporate conduct codes and ISO standards. The operator must maintain a safe and clean workstation and contribute to team efforts by accomplishing related tasks as needed.

Requirements

• Previous light/medium industrial experience.
• Ability to accurately read and interpret blueprints.
• Ability to read, interpret and understand work in-process documents.
• Basic computer knowledge required.
• Strong verbal and written communication skills.
• Self-motivated with a high level of ownership and accountability.
• Provides accurate feedback to the department supervisor pertaining to quality issues.
• Lean skills to continually drive process improvements.
• Team building skills.
• Must be fluent in English, i.e., speaking, reading, writing.

Responsibilities

• Performs tank maintenance and submits samples to the lab.
• Wears required PPE including face shield, safety glasses, chemical smock or apron, rubber gloves, cut-resistant gloves, steel toe shoes, and respirator if desired.
• Maintains logbooks.
• Wax or wax inject parts.
• Grit blast and heat tint.
• Conduct strip inspections.
• Documents shop travelers.
• Performs minor equipment maintenance.
• Maintains production standards and quality requirements.
• Adheres to the corporate code of conduct.
• Ensures compliance with IPM/QPM and ISO standards.
• Identifies need for and performs machine maintenance and minor repairs.
• Maintains a safe and clean workstation.
• Contributes to team effort by accomplishing related tasks as needed.
