About The Position

The Chemical Process Engineer to support aerospace chemical processing operations through process control, bath chemistry management, analytical testing, troubleshooting, and continuous improvement. This role partners with Quality, Manufacturing, and Environmental Health & Safety (EHS) to ensure stable process performance, regulatory compliance, and NADCAP/AS9100 readiness. As the Chemical Process Engineer, this person will work very closely with the Philadelphia Water Department to ensure we are compliant with proper levels as well as working with other third party vendors in testing levels within our Responsibilities Duties and Responsibilities include the following. Other duties may be assigned. Monitor, control, and optimize aerospace chemical processing solutions using quantitative and qualitative chemical analysis to maintain process stability and product conformity. Perform routine and investigative bath chemistry testing (titrations, pH, concentration verification, contamination checks) to ensure solutions remain within specification. Analyze process performance data and lab results to evaluate process capability, identify trends, and implement corrective actions to prevent defects and rework. Develop and improve process control plans, analytical methods, and chemical formulas to support improved throughput, quality, and cost reduction. Troubleshoot chemical processing issues including out-of-spec baths, coating performance failures, and equipment malfunctions using structured root cause analysis and corrective action methodology. Support process qualification and sustainment by executing and documenting required mechanical and performance testing, including tensile testing, wedge crack testing, humidity exposure, and compression testing. Write and maintain standard operating procedures (SOPs), work instructions, control plans, and technical reports in accordance with NADCAP and internal quality requirements. Operate, calibrate, and maintain laboratory instrumentation including pH meters, analytical balances, humidity chambers, and mechanical testing systems. Maintain and control laboratory records, test data, and process documentation to support NADCAP audits, customer requirements, and AS9100 compliance. Coordinate chemical inventory management and ensure required standards, supplies, and reagents are maintained for uninterrupted production support. Maintain and manage SDS/MSDS documentation, ensuring chemical handling and storage practices meet OSHA and facility safety requirements. Partner with Quality leadership to support OSHA compliance, chemical safety programs, and risk reduction initiatives. Ensure compliance and reporting for the facility’s Wastewater Treatment Facility, including sampling, monitoring, documentation, and corrective actions when needed. Prepare monthly/quarterly reporting for wastewater discharge, hazardous waste, and VOC usage, ensuring timely and accurate submissions. Perform weekly hazardous waste inspections and support compliant storage, labeling, and disposal practices. Create and maintain First Article Inspection (FAI) plans and inspection IMS sheets as required. Perform additional duties as assigned to support production, quality, and compliance objectives.
