The Chemical Plant Electronics Technician performs calibration, maintenance, and construction support for all types of instrumentation and control devices and systems in fine chemical and pharmaceutical production plants, pilot plants, and laboratories, along with their supporting utilities. This role includes a variety of tasks such as calibration, troubleshooting, preventative maintenance, construction, modification, testing, installation, and operational checkout of electronic and electromechanical devices and systems. The devices involved include processing utility instrumentation and controls, mechanical, pneumatic, hydraulic, electrical, electronic, and computer-based controls, laboratory equipment, test equipment, scales, recorders, programmable logic controllers, cameras, radios, and computers. Additionally, the technician is responsible for the validation, calibration, and maintenance of pharmaceutical equipment, which requires a solid understanding of cGMP requirements and regulations, including the calibration and care of reference, transfer, and electrical/electronic primary and secondary standards.

  • Perform calibration, troubleshooting, and preventative maintenance on instrumentation and control devices.
  • Support construction, modification, testing, installation, and operational checkout of electronic and electromechanical devices.
  • Maintain and write calibration and maintenance procedures.
  • Interface with Operations to coordinate work and minimize downtime.
  • Collaborate with construction, start-up, and validation personnel to provide control systems support.
  • Examine process control software as necessary.
  • Use common shop tools, including lathes and mills, for instrumentation controls work.
  • Perform minor electrical and mechanical repair or modification work interfacing with instrumentation and controls.
  • Associates degree in Electronics.
  • Minimum of 4 years experience in a related field (trade school, apprenticeship, or military experience).
  • Working knowledge of electronics, metrology, process controls, and instrumentation as they apply to the pharmaceutical industry.
  • Knowledge of cGMP practices, ISO 9000, and chemical plant operations.
  • Experience with chemicals and personal protective equipment.
  • Mandatory computer experience.
  • Starting pay rate of $53.28 an hour plus shift differential.
  • Union-based position.
  • 24/7 manufacturing facility with opportunities for overtime.
