About The Position

The Chemical Operator position at Fortrex involves working in a manufacturing plant environment focused on food safety solutions. The role requires adherence to safety policies and guidelines, executing emergency procedures, and maintaining a clean and organized workplace. Operators will work cohesively with team members across multiple departments and comply with SQF standards. The position includes operating various equipment and preparing finished products for shipment, while also troubleshooting systems as needed.

Requirements

  • Must be 18 years of age or older.
  • High School Graduate or General Education Degree (GED).
  • Comprehend documents such as policy manuals, safety rules, and operating instructions.
  • Knowledge of basic math - addition, subtraction, multiplication, and division.
  • Strong communication skills (oral and written).
  • Ability to comprehend and execute written procedures and policies.
  • Experience working in a manufacturing environment.
  • Ability to learn to safely drive a forklift in a production area.

Responsibilities

  • Adhere to all safety policies and guidelines; accountable for personal safety and the safety of co-workers.
  • Execute emergency procedures in response to chemical incidents or other safety threats.
  • Accurately record processing information in electronic devices and on paper documents.
  • Maintain a clean and organized workplace.
  • Work cohesively with team members across multiple departments.
  • Perform duties required to comply with SQF standards.
  • Complete initial and routine safety, processing, and compliance training.
  • Comply with all company policies and procedures.
  • Safely utilize and operate equipment to produce and package products.
  • Prepare finished products for shipment with proper labels and batch documentation.
  • Troubleshoot software, instrumentation, solids-handling, blending, and hydraulic systems.
  • Participate in lock-out/tag-out and other safety procedures on equipment.
  • Perform any other related duties as required or assigned.
