In this position you will perform prescribed diverse duties to control, monitor and operate various process equipment to produce a finished product. Train new operators and relieve Lead Technician as needed. Some of the things you will do:

Requirements

  • Education - High School Diploma or GED. Technical training preferred.
  • Experience - 12-18 months chemical operator experience at a continuous or batch facility is preferred.
  • Physical Demands - Lifts between 50 lbs. - 15%-40% of the time. Must climb up and down flights of stairs and/or ladders on an average of 35 times each shift. Must pass pulmonary function test to wear respirator.
  • Working Conditions - Exposed to noise, dust, wet floors, seasonal heat and cold, hazardous chemicals and chemical odors. Must wear negative pressure respirator, safety shoes, hard hat and safety glasses.
  • Special Skills/Training - Forklift and hoist operation equipment checking/cleaning.
  • This position may require exposure to hazardous chemicals and/or waste. Appropriate training in compliance with federal law regarding hazardous waste exposure/handling will be completed within 6 months of hire to fulfill job requirements.

Responsibilities

  • Monitor assigned area continuously for proper equipment operation and product quality.
  • Monitor equipment and report any leaks, malfunctions, or unusual noises, or other problems.
  • Perform prescribed cleaning procedures.
  • Perform specific plant functions as described in the plant specific “task list”.
  • Maintain work area in clean and orderly manner; observe all company safety regulations and work rules.
  • Perform prescribed Q. C. sampling of raw materials, in process materials and/or finished product.
  • Assist other plant personnel in troubleshooting. Relieve Lead Technician as needed. Assist in training new operators in all areas of production. Perform truck loading and unloading as needed. Perform packaging (drumming and/or bagging) as needed. Seek continuously a “better” way to maximize total plant operation, i.e. improvement ideas and suggestions. Adhere to all aspects of Responsible Care®.
  • Assist maintenance personnel as necessary for routine and repair maintenance.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
