Novonesis Chemical Operators in Franklinton produce enzymes for products across multiple industries in an industrial biotechnology facility. This is done through fermentation, downstream processing, and formulation. Chemical operators play a key role in ensuring safety, quality, and compliance by preparing raw materials, operating processing systems, and troubleshooting issues that may arise. In this role you’ll make an impact by: Hands-on operation: Operate equipment manually and through computer controls; complete all required safety and job-compliance training. Procedure-driven work: Follow written SOPs and PMDs to run equipment safely and maintain product quality. Problem-solving: Recognize issues, troubleshoot, and make timely adjustments in a dynamic production environment. Teamwork: Collaborate with coworkers across the operations team and other departments to run the process effectively. Physical requirements: This active role requires lifting up to 60 lbs, pulling 20 lbs, climbing stairs, working at heights or in confined spaces, moving freely around the facility, manipulating tools and valves, and using required PPE (uniform, hard hat, eye/ear protection, hair/beard nets, respirator with clean-shaven fit).

  • Operate equipment manually and through computer controls

  • Hold a valid driver's license
  • Have a HS diploma or GED equivalent (Bioworks certification or higher education - college degree, especially in applicable fields such as Biology, Engineering, etc. are also sought after)
  • Be able to walk up and down steps consistently, and work at elevated heights
  • Be able to maintain physical mobility (bend, turn, reach, etc. consistently through work shift)
  • Be able to lift and manipulate up to 50 lbs. consistently
  • Have good computer skills - knowledge and use of Microsoft Office applications, email, web-based applications, etc.
  • Have experience in a production environment: · Safety, Food Safety, cGMP experience · Process and Equipment knowledge (examples: fermentation, centrifugation, filtration, formulation, etc) · Valves, pumps, distributed control systems, instrumentation knowledge
  • Be willing to work 12-hour swing shift
  • Bioworks certification or higher education - college degree, especially in applicable fields such as Biology, Engineering, etc.
