About The Position

This is an entry-level position for Momentive Performance Materials in Sistersville, WV. Duties of this entry level chemical operator position include the operation of manufacturing process equipment, packaging finished products and general labor throughout the facility. Upon completion of your new hire orientation of 6 weeks, new hires will be placed into the vacancies available within the plant which may include Chemical Operator positions, or Material Handler positions. Through job bidding, advancement opportunities are available to move positions in accordance with the Collective Bargaining Agreement language. Starting wage is currently $22.30 per hour, with benefits beginning on the first day of employment.

Requirements

  • Candidates should meet at least one of the following:
  • Associate or Bachelor of Science degree in a technical or related field
  • Military experience (proven on a DD-214)
  • Certificate of completion (9-month program or equivalent) in chemical operations or a related field such as mechanical, electrical, or instrumentation
  • 2+ years experience working in a manufacturing, production, or industrial setting especially where safety, teamwork, and attention to detail are key.
  • Completion of an accredited technical or trade school program in areas such as Process Technology, Industrial Maintenance, Mechatronics, Mechanical, Electrical, Instrumentation, or a related technical discipline

Nice To Haves

  • Strong mechanical aptitude and willingness to learn chemical operations through on-the-job training
  • Familiarity with computers, control systems, or electronic instrumentation

Responsibilities

  • Area-specific task requirements
  • Work/train anywhere in the area operation as assigned, including assisting with production
  • Properly fill, label, and position all hazardous and non-hazardous waste in identified storage/pickup areas
  • Perform housekeeping to ensure area safety and maintain audit-ready condition
  • Complete equipment clean-outs/turnarounds as required to ensure proper operation
  • Follow all standard operation and business procedures, safety, environmental, and quality guidelines, plant standards, and codes of conduct
  • Communicate with leadership regarding any production, product quality, or safety issues as they arise
  • Participate in area and business improvement activities, quality, mechanical integrity, and environmental, health and safety (EHS) compliance activities
  • Knowledgeable of OSHA standards and safe work practices
  • Attend skills training courses as offered
  • Demonstrate ability to drive a forklift truck
  • Other duties as assigned
