About The Position

Current Chemicals is a specialty materials manufacturer that performs chemical manufacturing, piloting, research and development work for customers' formulations in diverse markets. We offer wet precipitation and solid-state chemical processing from lab scale through scale-up to specialty and bulk production. Our manufacturing operations reside in Cleveland, OH. Successful candidate must possess the following qualifications: Chemical Mixers are responsible for preparing materials and operating process equipment, including furnaces, mixers, mills and sifters, for a wide variety of both wet and dry chemicals, including getters, fuels, oxidizers, sprays, rubber, lacquers, acids, and fluorescent powders, under general supervision. The Chemical Mixer A: Uses the metric system to measure quantities of liquid and solid chemicals and maintains an accurate inventory through proper reporting of material usage, minimizing waste and ensuring that measuring devices are properly calibrated. Ensures all operating procedures are followed and adheres to procedural standards regarding sampling and testing techniques and proper handling and preparation of materials. Follows all safety procedures including utilizing the proper methods required for handling, storing and dispensing of hazardous waste and following all general site safety rules. Maintains required log sheets and utilizes all pertinent documentation (MCP, MPIs, SDS, Quality Systems Procedures) Packs chemicals according to required shipping specifications. Maintains an organized work area and maintains the functionality of all equipment including general order and housekeeping, ensuring accurate supply of materials and supplies, reporting maintenance/calibration services needs of equipment and performing basic troubleshooting of equipment. Has an understanding of company products as well as all the mixing equipment Performs other duties as assigned Able to work with limited supervision

Requirements

  • 3 years-experience in a manufacturing environment; preference for compounding or mixing experience
  • High school diploma or GED equivalent
  • Must be able to read and comprehend written and oral instructions provided in English, including safety rules, operating procedures, batch recipes and material identification.
  • Must have mathematical skills to add, subtract, multiply, and divide as well as making the necessary conversions.
  • Able to physically handle 55-gallon drums and powder bags up to 60 lbs.
  • Able to walk and stand for long periods of time.
  • Must have basic computer skills
  • Displays good troubleshooting skills.
