Valero is seeking a Chemical Engineering Intern for the Summer of 2025 at various U.S. refining locations. This internship program is designed to inspire and develop the next generation of innovators in the field of Chemical Engineering. Interns will engage in challenging projects across several key areas, including Process Engineering, Environmental Engineering, and Control Systems Engineering. In Process Engineering, interns will collaborate with field operators, console operators, and unit managers to provide optimization and troubleshooting advice, as well as general technical guidance on operating units within the refinery. This hands-on experience is crucial for understanding the complexities of refinery operations and enhancing problem-solving skills. Environmental Engineering interns will assist with compliance reports and emission tracking, performing daily emissions calculations and reviewing regulatory updates to ensure adherence to environmental standards. This role emphasizes the importance of sustainability and regulatory compliance in the refining industry. Control Systems Engineering interns will support refineries through control and instrumentation activities, working with both hardware and software platforms. Troubleshooting will also be a key component of this role, providing interns with valuable experience in maintaining and optimizing control systems. The internship is hourly nonexempt, meaning interns are eligible for overtime pay.
