About The Position

Chemours is seeking a Chemical Process Engineer to join our growing Manufacturing Technology team! This position will report directly to the Polymers Manufacturing Technology Manager at our Washington Works site in Parkersburg, WV location. This role performs engineering assignments (production, maintenance, process, capital projects, etc.) involving the application of established chemical technology and principles. This work often requires coordination with other engineering and functional competencies to provide economical and expedient task implementation. This role may also be assigned to lead the Process Engineering function associated with major capital projects and will also lead commissioning, startups, and troubleshooting activities.

Requirements

  • Bachelor of Science in Chemical Engineering from an ABET-accredited university
  • Applicable Co-Op or Internship experience
  • Exposure to chemical processing methodology and problem-solving methods
  • Meaningful values on safety awareness, implementation, and improvement
  • Proficient in typical business software such as Microsoft Office
  • Thorough communication skills, verbal and written

Nice To Haves

  • 1-5 years of professional chemical engineering experience in an industrial manufacturing environment
  • Hands-on experience with typical plant chemical process equipment maintenance and troubleshooting
  • Experience with reaction vessels, autoclaves, poly-kettles, tanks, heat exchangers, vessels, piping, flow, pressure, temperature, level meters/systems, control valves and process-control devices
  • Exposure to Process Safety Management methodologies & controls

Responsibilities

  • Proactively identifying, troubleshooting, and resolving issues to support and improve efficiency of the manufacturing facilities
  • Daily monitoring of chemical process performance in the facility
  • Work with plant operational teams to facilitate continuous improvement efforts related to process performance
  • Implementation of detailed projects covering chemical aspects of manufacturing
  • Develop preventive and predictive programs for the process engineering scope
  • Participate in project teams and all activities related to process engineering technical support
  • Process documentation; including P&IDs and Block Flow Diagrams
  • Design and development of operations protocols, processing equipment installations and plant upgrades related to chemical processes
  • Conduct field assessments and audits on processing equipment
  • Lead and implement all Chemours standard/policy related to equipment installations and maintenance
