About The Position

This full-time internship in the Summer of 2026 offers the opportunity to gain experience in Chemical Engineering at Albaugh’s manufacturing facility in St. Joseph, Mo. This role will have an emphasis on assisting engineers with the design, analysis, and optimization of chemical and manufacturing processes and other duties. This is an excellent opportunity for hands-on application of engineering studies for career readiness in engineering or related areas.

Requirements

  • Currently enrolled in a bachelor’s or master’s degree program in Chemical Engineering (or closely related field)
  • Completion of or current enrollment in core chemical engineering coursework (e.g., material and energy balances, thermodynamics)
  • Basic understanding of chemical engineering principles and unit operations
  • Ability to follow safety protocols, procedures, and engineering standards
  • Strong analytical, problem‑solving, and organizational skills
  • Effective written and verbal communication skills
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team
  • Flexibility and adaptability to work in a fast-paced and changing environment, while maintaining a positive attitude.
  • Ability to work both independently and in a team setting.
  • Available to work 40 hours per week for the duration of the internship.

Responsibilities

  • Assist engineers with the design, analysis, and optimization of chemical and manufacturing processes
  • Collect, analyze, and interpret process and experimental data
  • Support process improvement and cost‑reduction initiatives
  • Monitor process performance and help identify operational issues
  • Prepare technical reports, spreadsheets, and presentations
  • Ensure compliance with safety, quality, and environmental standards
  • Participate in team meetings, project reviews, and training sessions
  • Collaborate with cross‑functional teams including production, quality, and maintenance
  • Follow standard operating procedures and maintain accurate records
