As a Chemical Engineer Co-Op, you will play a crucial role in this mission by helping to improve our chemical processes. Your primary responsibilities will include working on yield and process capacity improvements, waste reductions, and modifications or designs of equipment to enhance efficiency and reduce costs. You will also troubleshoot mechanical equipment, providing recommendations to improve reliability and cost-effectiveness in our chemical plants. In this role, you will be involved in the design, installation, and start-up of automatic process control systems, as well as material handling and distributive control systems. You will assist engineers in developing project objectives and scope by analyzing customer requirements and producing necessary documentation for approval. Ensuring compliance with engineering standards, OSHA, EPA, and plant safety standards will be a key part of your responsibilities, as will collaborating with other engineers to gain insights into maintenance and reliability improvement programs. You will perform engineering calculations, assist with the procurement process, and conduct feasibility and planning studies to analyze customer needs. Your collaboration with production and technical staff will be essential for troubleshooting and problem-solving across operations and compliance organizations, driving the attainment of project goals. Additionally, you will aid in the implementation of the Operational Excellence program and support Process Improvement and Lean Manufacturing initiatives across the site.
