This position is for a Chemical Engineering COOP on the Z-fab microelectronics team who will apply Industrial Engineering concepts, techniques, analysis, and decision tools to promote and implement changes in manufacturing operations to achieve site goals. This roles overarching responsibilities are improving quality, reducing costs, and improving safety and the flow of products through process improvements. This role will provide the opportunity for independent action AND working in a team environment of manufacturing engineers, production personnel, management, and other support organizations. You will be assigned to projects with high priority and visibility to improve this facility's capability to be the best manufacturing facility in the world. Immerse yourself in a full-time, Monday-Friday co-op session, that will run May/June- December (including the Fall semester; it is expected students will take a semester off from coursework to fully engage with this working mentorship opportunity).

Requirements

  • Requires a High School Diploma or equivalent
  • Student must be pursuing a Bachelor’s or advanced degree in an applicable discipline
  • U.S. citizenship is required, as only U.S. citizens are authorized to access information under this program/contract

Nice To Haves

  • Working towards a BS in Chemical Engineering
  • Prior experience in manufacturing environments
  • Strong background in Root Cause Analysis
  • Track record of driving continuous improvement in manufacturing operations

Responsibilities

  • Support day-to-day manufacturing processes including: Photolithography, Metrology, and Plating
  • Conduct studies on cost control, cost reduction, inventory, and production record systems
  • Develop and enhance fabrication processes
  • Drive continuous improvement of process capability index
