Position Summary: HII: Mission Technologies is seeking an entry level Chemical Engineer who will support our Petroleum Lab at Gound Vehicle System Center at Detriot Arsenal in Warren, MI. HII's Mission Technologies Division, has over 100 facilities worldwide and provides capabilities to support an all-domain force that includes artificial intelligence and machine learning, autonomous systems, critical nuclear operations, LVC systems, cyberspace strategies, and platform modernization. This position requires onsite work at The United States Army Ground Vehicle System Center GVSC located in Warren, MI. Requirements

  • A Bachelors degree from an acredited university in pysical science or engineering or in related field; or High School Diploma or equivalent and 4 years relevant experience.
  • Ability to lift items up to 50lbs and perform physical tasks such as climbing, bending, and reaching.
  • Strong attention to detail, organizational skills, and proficiency in Microsoft Office.
  • Ability to obtain a secret clearance with the US DoD

Nice To Haves

  • Demonstrate a minimum of 6 months of hands-on laboratory experience conducting scientific testing and analysis, including sample preparation, data collection, and interpretation using standardized methodologies.
  • A secret clarance with the US DoD
  • Exposure to fumes and irritants normally encountered in industrial or shipboard environment.
  • May involve gathering data while observing rotating or operating machinery, electrical or electronic equipment with high voltages present.

Responsibilities

  • Perform laboratory analysis on a wide range of petroleum, oil, and lubricant (POL) products, such as aviation fuels, diesel fuels, gasolines, lubricants, greases, coolants, hydraulic fluids, and solid film lubricants.
  • Execute standardized testing protocols in strict accordance with ASTM International, SAE International, Federal Test Methods, and other relevant methodologies tailored to specific product and project requirements.
  • Ensure compliance with ISO/IEC 17025 Quality Management Standards, completing all testing activities with precision, traceability, and adherence to Laboratory Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs).
  • Achieve and maintain technical proficiency by completing required training and attaining “Trained” or “Expert” status on applicable test methods and instrumentation.
  • Support end-to-end laboratory operations, including sample intake and logging, work order creation, report generation, consumable inventory, safety data sheet (SDS) updates, and waste management in alignment with environmental and safety regulations.
  • Complete all mandatory training related to but not limited to laboratory operations, including testing procedures, safety protocols, quality assurance, and environmental compliance.
  • Participate in laboratory audits to include safety, quality, and environmental, upon request.
  • Conduct routine instrument maintenance and troubleshooting, ensuring optimal performance and minimizing downtime.
  • Promote a culture of safety and compliance by rigorously following protocols for the handling, storage, and labeling of chemicals and materials in accordance with SOPs and regulatory standards.
