The Chemical Dependency Counselor performs all functions of counselor practice as outlined by NYS OASAS. The role focuses on the development and implementation of individualized patient treatment plans with an emphasis on counseling and guidance throughout the recovery process. This position involves collaborative work with the medical team to develop treatment planning strategies, making appropriate referrals, and planning patient discharges. A significant part of the role includes ensuring accurate and timely documentation of patient records and participating in daily group counseling efforts within the unit. The counselor will also act as the primary individual counselor for patients in their recovery journey.
