About The Position

The Chemical Dependency Counselor performs all functions of counselor practice as outlined by NYS OASAS. The focus includes the development and implementation of individualized patient treatment plans with an emphasis on counseling and guidance of the recovery process.

Requirements

  • Two years of college with specialization in chemical dependency or other human services area.
  • BLS certification.
  • Two years of continuous abstinence, if recovering.

Nice To Haves

  • CASAC certification.
  • One year of full-time employment in an inpatient setting.

Responsibilities

  • Works collaboratively with the medical team to develop treatment planning strategies.
  • Responsible for making appropriate referrals and discharge planning of patients.
  • Ensure accurate and timely documentation of patient records.
  • Participate in daily group counseling efforts of the unit.
  • Responsible for acting as the primary Individual Counselor for patients in their recovery process.
