About The Position

The Summer Employment Opportunity Program (SEOP) provides temporary summer employment opportunities to children, step-children and spouses of Mayo Clinic employees enrolled in a college degree granting program of study, and is intended to help supervisors accommodate employee vacation requests when seasonal work volumes are high. As a Chemical/Container Preparation Assistant you will enjoy working with a collaborative, high-energy, quality focused team. As a member of the Preparation & Processing Team you will support the clinical and development laboratories by: Preparing reagents Performing quality checks of laboratory water and containers Performing pipette validation Prioritizing, scheduling, and delivery of containers Washing and sterilizing laboratory glassware and equipment that are contaminated with biological waste Picking-up and returning of processed items to laboratories using carts to move glassware throughout the building and to other locations on campus Decontaminating biological waste for the department Good walking shoes required Extensive, on-the-job training will be provided to you.

Requirements

  • Must be a child, step-child, or spouse of a current Mayo Clinic employee.
  • Must be currently enrolled in a degree granting program.
  • Must be returning to college in the fall.
  • Must be able to work a minimum of 10 weeks.
  • Must be 18 years of age or older by the start of the program
  • SEOP employees should not expect vacation/days-off to be approved during their commitment.
