As a Chemical Commodity Manager for our Operations, Maintenance and Facilities Services team, you will be responsible for managing all the required chemical agreements and corresponding supplier relationships which are vital to the operation of water and wastewater treatment facilities across North America.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in a business, supply chain, or operations management field, or equivalent project experience in lieu of degree.
  • 5+ years of procurement experience in related procurement roles.
  • Proven supplier management experience, including supplier performance reviews.
  • Experience using MS Office tools, including intermediate to advanced MS Excel skills.
  • Strong analytical skills are essential for analyzing market data, identifying trends, and making informed decisions.
  • Excellent negotiation skills are crucial for securing favorable contracts and pricing with suppliers.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills are necessary for interacting with suppliers, cross-functional teams, and management.
  • Ability to identify and solve problems related to the chemical supply chain, such as disruptions, quality issues, and cost overruns.
  • A strong understanding of chemicals, their properties, market trends and their applications is essential.
  • Knowledge of supply chain management principles and best practices is also important.

Responsibilities

  • Develop and implement long-term sourcing strategies for chemicals, considering factors like cost, quality, and availability.
  • Identify, evaluate, and manage relationships with chemical suppliers to ensure reliable and cost-effective supply.
  • Monitor and analyze the chemical market, including pricing trends, supply chain dynamics, and State and Federal regulatory changes.
  • Negotiate contracts and pricing with suppliers to secure favorable terms and conditions.
  • Identify and implement cost-saving initiatives, such as optimizing supply chain processes, leveraging supplier relationships, and the use of RFP and/or e-Auctions.
  • Ensure the quality of chemicals meets required standards through supplier audits, testing, and other quality control measures.
  • Identify and mitigate potential risks to the chemical supply chain, such as disruptions, price volatility, and State and Federal regulatory changes.
  • Work with cross-functional teams, including engineering, Project Managers, Regional Management, compliance team and quality assurance, to ensure seamless operations.
  • Track key performance indicators (KPIs) and prepare reports for management on chemical costs, supply chain performance, and other relevant metrics.
