About The Position

We are seeking a Chemical Blending Operator for our First Quality Home Care Products, LLC facility located in Salt Lake City, UT. Primary responsibilities include operating mixers, pre-mixers, and blending equipment to produce liquid soap, following all safety policies and procedures, and ensuring the safe handling of all chemicals in compliance with OSHA standards. The operator will report any chemical or other spills and follow related procedures for quarantine and clean-up. The role requires understanding and following the Sanitation Program, including preparation of sanitation solutions and proper sanitation procedures for mixers, pre-mixers, tanks, and totes. The operator will also manage the fluid flow from raw material storage tanks to mixers and pre-mixers, transfer finished products, and adhere to Current Good Manufacturing Practices (cGMP). Additional responsibilities include troubleshooting issues, recording data accurately, maintaining stock levels, conducting various tests, and completing required cleaning duties for the process area and all liquids process equipment.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • 2 – 3 years of experience as a machine operator in a production environment.
  • Prefer blending, batch mixing experience.
  • Chemistry background preferred.
  • Ability to effectively communicate verbally and in writing at all levels of the organization.
  • Must be well organized and able to learn quickly.
  • Must be able to read and follow verbal and written instructions.

Responsibilities

  • Operates mixers, pre-mixers, and blending equipment to produce liquid soap.
  • Follows all safety policies and procedures.
  • Safely handles all chemicals in compliance with OSHA standards.
  • Reports any chemical or other spills and follows related procedures for quarantine and clean-up.
  • Understands and follows the Sanitation Program at all times.
  • Transfers finished product from mixers and pre-mixers to storage tanks.
  • Follows Current Good Manufacturing Practices (cGMP) in the manufacture of safe, hygienic products.
  • Follows instructions/recipes/PI sheets to accurately make a batch.
  • Troubleshoots issues to ensure quality batches and proper functioning of equipment.
  • Records data on batch sheets, batch logs, waste water logs, and in the logbook.
  • Maintains stock levels of non-bulk items in the proper storage area.
  • Conducts various tests including pH testing and hardness testing of the soft water system.
  • Completes required cleaning duties for the process area and all liquids process equipment.
  • Attends hazardous chemical seminars as required.
  • Effectively operates the waste water system.
