About The Position

The Chemical Blender at Labtopia Inc is responsible for blending and mixing various chemical formulations while ensuring safety and compliance with established procedures. This entry-level position requires attention to detail and the ability to work with hazardous materials in a controlled environment.

Requirements

  • High School Diploma or G.E.D.
  • AS in Process Technology or equivalent preferred.
  • Experience in a blending or chemical handling environment is strongly desired.
  • Valid and Legible T.W.I.C. Card (must be obtained).
  • Good physical condition and able to wear appropriate PPE.
  • Ability to work in extreme temperatures.
  • DOT Hazmat certification is desirable.
  • Spill Response Training is desirable.
  • Good understanding of chemical hazards and safety.
  • Ability to perform routine linear calculations and basic math skills.
  • Familiarity with basic blending concepts and equipment such as pumps, valves, and kettles.

Responsibilities

  • Follow detailed procedures and learn new concepts quickly.
  • Maintain cleanliness and safety of the batch area.
  • Monitor all tank activities and complete daily tank inventories.
  • Weigh and meter all blend components using volume meters and/or load cells.
  • Ensure proper operation of measuring devices and report concerns to supervisor.
  • Handle and pump a variety of chemicals, including hazardous items.
  • Use various chemical pumps and material handling devices for blending materials.
  • Connect tanks and hoses for blending and packaging products.
  • Work closely with line supervisors to ensure proper tank connections to packaging stations.
  • Trace fill lines for accurate hook-ups and transfers.
  • Monitor blending operations, including mixing times, temperatures, and fill levels.
  • Use tank charts and gauge readings to determine proper filling volumes and safe fill levels.
  • Be familiar with products in storage tanks and their specific hazards.
  • Take necessary precautions and wear appropriate PPE for safety.
  • Maintain a Quality Management System (QMS) in accordance with ISO-9001:2008 requirements.
  • Train blending personnel on blending procedures.
  • Complete and send out Daily Tank Charts when Blending Supervisor is absent.
