About The Position

Job Responsibilities The chemical analyst’s responsibilities include analyzing substances to determine their chemical composition, setting up lab equipment and monitoring experiments, compiling technical reports, and interpreting results. Following instructions and collaborating with others is a vital part of this role. Perform quality control (QC) analysis of raw materials, wood and solution samples received from Koppers customers. Receive and logs the samples from customers. Operate and maintain laboratory equipment including HPLC, GC/MS, ICP-OES, X-Ray Fluorescence (XRF), Titrators, FTIR, or UV/VIS spectrophotometers as well as analytical balances, pH meters, refrigerators/freezers, ovens, etc. Prepare sample analysis reports for distribution as appropriate. Address questions concerning sample analysis results from Koppers customers. Provide analytical support for new product development projects. Ensure timely ordering of laboratory supplies to maintain an adequate inventory. Maintain a neat and clean work environment to minimize potential for contamination in the laboratory. Ensure proper disposal of materials related to the specific laboratory activities. Communicate with vendors of instruments and perform instrument maintenance and repair on variety of analytical instrumentation Document laboratory activities in a timely manner according to Research SOPs for studies conducted in compliance with Responsible Care RC14000. Uphold Zero Harm principles to maintain a safe, compliant, and responsible working environment. Perform other duties as assigned. Qualifications Bachelor’s degree OR Associate degree in chemistry, chemical engineering, technology, environmental science, or related field + 3 years’ experience Experience in X-ray, HPLC, GC/MS, titration, ICP-ES or other analytical techniques preferred. Requirements
