About The Position

As a Juntos Program Extension Coordinator for the Chelan County 4-H, you will develop and implement programs for the Juntos and Juntos Agriscience Pathways programs, including youth & family recruitment, community programming and engagement (potentially as 4-H clubs), as well as academic tracking and student mentoring. You will be responsible for representing WSU as an educational partner, and providing clear and consistent communication of program successes and challenges with the grant P.I.’s., the school district and community partners. You will direct the day-to-day functions of the Juntos program in Chelan County. In this position you will work with school(s) to recruit Latino students (8th -12th grade) to participate in the Juntos program with their families in Chelan County via Family Engagement (workshops & family nights), one-on-one success coaching, Juntos 4-H Club, Summer Academy. You will also work with local community colleges and Washington State University to support student engagement in the Juntos STEM workforce development model.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in a relevant extension program discipline and two (2) years of related program experience. Any combination of relevant education and experience may be substituted for the educational requirement on a year-for-year basis.
  • Knowledge of, and/or experience with youth development programs.
  • A passion for supporting all students’ educational success, especially in the STEM fields.
  • Experience working with students, family members, community partners in schools, and community settings.
  • Good human relations skills with youth and adults, take initiative, be solution oriented, have organizational skills, and is dependable.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Word, Excel, Outlook, and social media platforms.
  • Ability to work flexible work hours that include frequent evenings and weekends.
  • Experience developing and delivering college and career readiness curriculum.
  • Experience with research, program assessment and evaluation.
  • Experience working/collaborating with multiple public agencies.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience in volunteer management (i.e. recruitment, placement, education and recognition) and volunteerism.
  • Bilingual in Spanish/English
  • Strong demonstrated verbal communication and listening skills: public speaking, effective conveyance of program information to the public, program participants, and decision-makers.
  • Experience in leadership, supervision, and the ability to work and think independently.
