The Chef is responsible for all aspects of kitchen operation, to include but not limited to: menu planning; food preparation and storage; kitchen equipment and maintenance; and inventory management. This position is also responsible for ensuring adherence to all federal, state and local Health Department regulations and recommendations as well as delivering outstanding food quality for our patient population. The individual in this position is expected to exercise strong judgement and ensure fiscally responsible activities as it pertains to purchasing goods and managing product waste. This job requires cooking between two (2) houses in Los Angeles; Santa Monica and Brentwood for a total of 12 clients.

Requirements

  • Excellent organizational and time management skills.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite or similar software.
  • Able to communicate effectively in English, both verbally and in writing.
  • Able to life up to 20 pounds.
  • High School Diploma or equivalent, required.
  • A minimum of two (2) years of experience, preferably in health care or hospital setting preferred.
  • In keeping with DSS regulations, this position; must be at least 18 years of age, complete First Aid Training (First Aid Certificate), complete required health screening, TB clearance.
  • Must pass extensive background check.
  • Must meet criteria of our auto use policy, including driving a vehicle and possessing valid Driver’s License.

Responsibilities

  • Upholds and maintains the Company, mission, and values (called the Lightfully “Shining Commitments”).
  • Responsible for maintaining all kitchen and dining areas, tools, and equipment.
  • Responsible for food preparation and storage. Responsible for ensuring food is prepared and stored in accordance with all regulatory requirements.
  • Responsible for kitchen sanitation and overall organization of kitchen and dining areas.
  • Create recipes and menus that meet the needs of our clients.
  • Identify alternative menu and recipe options for allergies, vegetarian or vegan requirements as identified by clinical/medical team.
  • Coordinate with leadership to ensure collaborative working relationships between culinary and clinical teams and efficient processes around meal times.
  • Assist in training direct care and clinical team members on principles of nutrition, food preparation and storage and menu planning (including sanitation principles related to food and kitchen operations).
  • Other duties, as assigned.
