About The Position

Release Recovery is committed to supporting healing and wellness through exceptional care—and that includes food. We are seeking a skilled and reliable Chef to independently manage meal preparation at our Austin facility. This is a solo kitchen role responsible for preparing dinner and prepping lunch for the following day. The ideal candidate is comfortable working independently, values consistency and cleanliness, and understands the importance of food in a recovery-focused environment. Requirements

  • Prior professional cooking or kitchen experience (solo kitchen experience preferred)
  • Comfortable working independently without additional kitchen staff
  • Knowledge of basic food safety and sanitation practices
  • Reliable, punctual, and organized
  • Able to work evening hours; occasional schedule adjustments as needed

Responsibilities

  • Prepare and serve dinner for residents in alignment with nutritional and portion guidelines
  • Prep lunch for the following day to support daily operations
  • Execute simple, balanced, health-forward menus appropriate for a recovery setting
  • Accommodate dietary needs or restrictions as required
  • Independently manage daily kitchen operations, including prep, service, and cleanup
  • Maintain a clean, organized kitchen in compliance with food safety and sanitation standards
  • Properly store, label, and rotate ingredients; minimize food waste
  • Monitor inventory and communicate ordering or supply needs to program leadership
  • Coordinate with residential staff to align meals with client schedules and house needs
  • Maintain flexibility for occasional special meals or house events
