About The Position

The Chef Supervisor plays a critical role in ensuring high-quality, nutritious meals are provided to all residents at Dakota Woodlands. This position oversees all aspects of food service, including meal preparation, menu planning, kitchen operations, food procurement, and compliance with safety and sanitation regulations. The Chef Supervisor will also manage kitchen staff and volunteers, ensuring smooth operations and adherence to best practices in food service management. The ideal candidate is a responsible, dedicated, and detail-oriented individual with experience in food service management. They must be committed to maintaining high standards in food preparation, safety, and customer service while fostering a welcoming and inclusive kitchen environment.

Requirements

  • Must pass an organizational background study.
  • Minimum of two years of experience in food service or kitchen management.
  • MN Department of Health Food Manager's license or willingness to obtain certification.
  • ServSafe Certification or ability to acquire.
  • Strong organizational and time management skills.
  • Experience working with diverse populations and the ability to accommodate various dietary needs,
  • Ability to lead and work collaboratively within a team environment.
  • Excellent communication skills to interact with staff, volunteers, and residents.
  • Commitment to Dakota Woodlands' mission and values.
  • Ability to stand for extended periods and perform physical tasks, including lifting and carrying heavy objects.

Responsibilities

  • Plan, prepare, and oversee the production of high-quality meals for residents, ensuring dietary and cultural needs are met.
  • Develop and maintain meal plans that are nutritious, cost-effective, and in compliance with food safety standards.
  • Manage inventory, place food supply orders, and maintain relationships with vendors and donors.
  • Ensure compliance with all food safety regulations, including those set by the MN Department of Health.
  • Recruit, train, supervise, and support kitchen staff and volunteers.
  • Assign daily tasks and provide clear guidance to maintain efficient kitchen operation.
  • Ensure all staff and volunteers adhere to food safety, hygiene, and sanitation practices.
  • Ensure compliance with all food safety regulations, including those set by the MN Department of Health.
  • Maintain the cleanliness and organization of the kitchen, storage, and dining areas.
  • Conduct routine inspections and maintain proper documentation of kitchen procedures.
  • Monitor and manage kitchen budget in coordination with the Director of Operations.
  • Track food donations and ensure appropriate use of resources.
  • Collaborate with other departments to support organization-wide events and initiatives.
  • Adapt to emerging challenges and implement solutions to maintain kitchen efficiency.
