About The Position

The Sous Chef at Borgess Medical Center will oversee the Culinary Department's operations, assisting in menu development, food preparation, and supervision of kitchen staff. This role is ideal for a dynamic culinary professional eager to contribute to high-quality food service in a healthcare setting.

Requirements

  • A.S. degree or equivalent experience in culinary arts.
  • Progressive culinary/kitchen management experience, depending on formal degree or training.
  • Experience in high volume, complex foodservice operations is highly desirable.
  • Knowledge of institutional and batch cooking practices.
  • Comprehensive understanding of food and catering trends, focusing on quality, production, sanitation, food cost controls, and presentation.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint), Outlook, and the Internet.
  • Willingness to participate in client satisfaction programs/activities.
  • ServSafe certification is highly desirable.

Nice To Haves

  • Catering experience is a plus.

Responsibilities

  • Assist the Executive Chef with managing cost controls and expenditures for the account.
  • Help plan and create menus alongside the Executive Chef.
  • Produce and execute catering events.
  • Implement new culinary programs in collaboration with the marketing and culinary team.
