About The Position

The Chef is responsible for planning, preparing, and serving nutritious and appealing meals for residents, ensuring all food service operations comply with health and safety regulations. The Chef will manage kitchen staff, maintain inventory, and interact with residents to accommodate dietary needs and preferences.

Requirements

High school diploma or equivalent required; formal culinary education preferred.
ServSafe or equivalent food safety certification (or willingness to obtain).
Strong leadership, organizational, and communication skills.
Ability to work daytime hours, with minimal late-night shifts.

Nice To Haves

Experience in food service, especially in healthcare or senior living, is a plus.

Responsibilities

Plan and prepare menus that meet residents’ dietary requirements and preferences.
Prepare and cook meals in accordance with established recipes and standards.
Supervise, train, and schedule kitchen staff.
Ensure all food handling, storage, and preparation areas comply with health and sanitation regulations.
Maintain inventory, order supplies, and manage the kitchen budget.
Engage with residents to gather feedback and adjust menus as needed.
Maintain a clean and organized kitchen environment at all times.
Ensure compliance with all food safety protocols (ServSafe certification preferred).
Ensure all food items in refrigerators and freezers are properly labeled and dated according to state regulations.
Maintain accurate records of food storage, preparation, and service as required by state inspections.
Stay current with all state and local health department requirements for kitchen operations.
Prepare for and participate in any kitchen-related inspections or audits by regulatory agencies.
Implement and follow all policies and procedures to ensure the kitchen remains in full compliance with state guidelines.
