About the position

Forefront Healthcare is looking for an enthusiastic leader to join our team as a Chef Manager in Forrest City, AR. This position is responsible for overseeing culinary operations in accordance with applicable federal, state, and local standards, guidelines, and regulations. The Chef Manager will lead the culinary team, ensuring high-quality food production and service in a community hospital setting.

Responsibilities

  • Directs, coordinates, and evaluates the kitchen, food production, and culinary employees.
  • Supervises, coordinates, and participates in activities of cooks and other department employees engaged in preparing, cooking, and serving food.
  • Manages frontline employees.
  • Ensures all food handling, sanitation, and customer service standards are met.
  • Maintains sufficient inventory to meet daily needs and assists with storage.
  • Interviews, schedules, trains, develops, empowers, coaches, and counsels staff.
  • Attends and presents in-service educational programs.
  • Prepares high-quality foods according to standardized recipes.
  • Ensures appealing presentation, food quality, portion control, and proper serving temperatures.
  • Monitors and tracks food use, production sheets, waste, and consumption.
  • Keeps equipment clean and compliant with sanitation and safety requirements.
  • Collaborates with leadership to create special events and menus.

Requirements

  • Two to three years’ experience in a related culinary position.
  • Two to three years of post-high school education, preferably a culinary degree.
  • Advanced knowledge of the principles and practices within the food profession.
  • Experiential knowledge required for management of people and/or problems.
  • Excellent oral, reading, and written communication skills.
  • Willingness to be hands-on with staff and operations.
  • Ability to work event-based hours including evenings, holidays, and weekends.
