About The Position

Park Place of Elmhurst, an award winning not-for-profit Life Plan Community serving more than 250 older adults, has initiated a search for a Chef Manager. Our present Chef Manager has announced his retirement after ten years with the organization in this important role. The Park Place of Elmhurst’s dining program receives excellent reviews from our residents, their family members, staff, and guests. This role offers a Chef work life balance they would not experience in leading a kitchen service in a restaurant. We have a strong dining service team with an experienced and supportive dining director. We are looking for a qualified Chef who is personable, has a positive attitude, is a team builder, has strong customer service skills, and wants to be part of a Mission enhancing the lives of older adults. Requirements

  • 5+ years of experience as a Chef.
  • Must have High School diploma or equivalent.
  • Governing authority sanitation certification is required.
  • Current Food Handlers Certification or Serve Safe Certification is required.
  • Pass a physical, drug screen, 50-pound lift test, fingerprint for criminal background and complete the orientation program.

Nice To Haves

  • Formal culinary training and or certification is preferred but not required.
  • 1+ years experience in a healthcare or senior living environment coordinating and supervising the efforts of food production staff, is preferred but not required.
  • Previous experience as a Chef in Healthcare environment is a plus.

Responsibilities

  • Provide assistance in all dietary functions as directed/instructed and in accordance with established dietary policies and procedures.
  • Manage a team of employees, coordinate and participate in effective food production, cooking, and service of high quality meals.
  • Responsible for scheduling a team of employees, tracking inventory and ordering food and supplies and maintaining a clean and sanitary food service operation.
  • Maintain good working relationships with inter-department personnel, and other departments within Park Place of Elmhurst to assure that food service can be properly maintained to meet resident needs.
  • Assist in screening and interviewing a selection of dietary personnel.
  • Establish a food service production line to ensure that meals are prepared on time.
  • Complies with food service sanitation standards and proper food handling techniques.
  • Maintain confidentiality of all pertinent resident care information.
