About The Position

Operates and assists any position within the cheese production plant and occasionally directs production activities and personnel for assigned shift. This includes coaching employee, monitoring computers systems, pulling samples, gathering data and analyzing for cost reduction and or better ways to process.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or general education degree (GED) preferred.
  • Ability to read and comprehend simple instructions, short correspondence, and memos. Ability to write simple correspondence. Ability to effectively present information in one-on-one and small group situations to customers, clients, and other employees of the organization.
  • Ability to add and subtract two digit numbers and to multiply and divide with 10's and 100's. Ability to perform these operations using units of American money and weight measurement, volume, and distance.
  • Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out detailed but uninvolved written or oral instructions. Ability to deal with problems involving a few concrete variables in standardized situations.
  • To perform this job successfully, an individual should have knowledge of basic computer skills
  • Comply with all safety policies, practices and procedures. Report all unsafe activities to supervisor and/or Human Resources.
  • Participate in proactive team efforts to achieve departmental and company goals.

Responsibilities

  • Must have the knowledge of every position in cheese production or CIP any given area.
  • Environmental, CIP, and MES log audits and corrections
  • Responsible for the ability to run any computer system needed to operate production or CIP in any given area
  • Will collect and ship samples for external testing
  • Will utilize SAP and Ariba to purchase the needs of the plant
  • Ensures that samples are run and if needed determine best action to bring product into specification. Will notify supervisor if the product is not within required specifications.
  • Maintains product loss sheets to keep an accurate recording of the product being wasted.
  • Daily Stats and Trial summary sheets
  • Responsible for timely and accurate reports of process loss and inventory records turned in daily to the supervisor.
  • Weekly Log report and summary
  • Assist in communication between operators and management staff.
  • Facilitates on-the-job training of new team members and tracks current team member skill achievements.

  • Ensures safe operating practices and helps in reporting and analyzing work related injuries.
  • Keeps records in accordance with good manufacturing process, as well as with local and state laws.
  • Will be an active member of the Sustainability team.
  • Will assist in running and collecting data for trials in the cheese department.
  • Will be document control for all trials and trial summaries
  • Will coordinate getting people to cheese cuttings
  • Will utilize the GPS theory and tools to reduce waste.
  • Document Control for cheese department scanning all logs into PDF.
  • Utilizes GPS processes, driving zero losses and upholds the culture of Southwest Cheese non-negotiables.
  • Complies with all applicable food safety regulations and mandates. (Food Safety Modernization Act- FSMA, Safe Quality Foods, Food and Drug Admin, Pasteurized Milk Ordinance)
  • Each employee shall comply with occupational safety and health standards and all rules, regulations, and orders issued pursuant to the Occupational Safety and Health Act which are applicable to his/her own actions and conduct.
  • Implement quality control measures required for the production processes.
  • Task Sheets will be provided separately for each different task
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
