POSITION OVERVIEW This is a full-time role within our Cheerleading & Tumbling Departments, reporting to our Owner & Company President. For this role, you’ll need to live in or near Central Arkansas and be willing to work on-site as well as commute to School Campuses to work with teams. Typical schedule for this role includes afternoon and evening practices Monday - Thursday evenings, Sundays afternoons during the School Year, weekend travel during competition season, and Daytime Hours working with School Teams and other tasks as assigned. MISSION The mission of the Cheerleading & Tumbling Coach is to develop technically strong, confident athletes while upholding a culture of excellence, accountability, and encouragement. This coach will play a critical role in elevating skill progression, improving competitive scores, mentoring athletes, and modeling professionalism to families and staff. Our coach must bring intensity to the mat and stability to the culture. The Coach will be a key asset to the Empire Kids team by remaining flexible in his/her role in coaching classes and teams at all levels and providing the best service possible to our clients and families. While weekly classes and instruction are certainly part of this position, the Coach’s most important responsibility is to uphold our mission of Building Pride, Courage, and Confidence in every child we serve while intently focusing on mental, physical, and emotional development and readiness of each athlete. Ultimately, this role exists to help Empire Kids build athletes who are strong in skill and strong in character — while helping the program grow in reputation, retention, and competitive success.

Requirements

  • Technical Excellence: Strong knowledge of All-Star & School Cheer scoring, skill progressions, and current industry standards. Ability to teach beginner through advanced tumbling and stunting safely and effectively, as well as acro-tumbling.
  • Leadership & Culture Building Ability to command a room, create structure, and build buy-in from athletes. Must balance high standards with encouragement.
  • Safety & Risk Awareness Deep understanding of proper spotting, progressions, and injury prevention. USA Cheer, Safesport, Concussion, CPR/First Aid certification (or willingness to obtain) required.
  • Professional Communication Clear and confident communicator with parents, athletes, and staff. Able to handle conflict calmly and professionally.
  • Team Player Mentality Works collaboratively with other coaches and leadership. No ego. No gossip. No drama. We operate as one team and give continuous input and feedback throughout the season.
  • Growth-Oriented Mindset Open to feedback. Hungry to improve. Motivated to build something bigger than themselves.
  • Affinity for Systems Ability to follow systems, implement structured training plans, and track athlete progress. Comfortable using scheduling and communication platforms.
  • Education: High school diploma required.
  • Experience: 5+ years coaching competitive cheerleading and/or tumbling required. Experience coaching All-Star & School teams required.
  • Physical Requirements: Ability to spot athletes, lift, bend, jump, and remain physically active for extended periods Ability to lift up to 50 lbs

Nice To Haves

  • Choreography experience is a plus.
  • Competition travel experience preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Lead team practices, tumbling classes, and skills clinics
  • Teach proper technique in stunting, tumbling, jumps, motions, conditioning, and flexibility
  • Spot safely and confidently at all levels assigned, ideally highly proficient at Levels 3-5 and coaching acro-tumbling.
  • Develop structured practice plans with clear progressions and measurable goals
  • Assist with choreography, routine cleaning, and competition preparation
  • Attend all assigned competitions, showcases, camps, and events
  • Maintain a disciplined, positive, athlete-centered training environment
  • Communicate clearly and professionally with parents and athletes
  • Provide skill evaluations and athlete feedback
  • Collaborate with the Leadership Team to improve program systems
  • Uphold and model Empire’s culture and core values at all times
  • Support athlete retention, growth, and recruitment efforts
