About The Position

As a cashier at Hy-Vee, you'll be part of a growing innovative brand that prides itself on providing best in class customer service. We are looking for helpful smiles who enjoy working in a fast-paced, customer-focused environment. The cashier provides fast and friendly service to customers, assists them with questions and requests, operates a cash register, and performs related duties. This position requires packaging products, working with drive-up and/or carry-out, and replenishing products as needed.

Requirements

• Must be able to carry out detailed but uninvolved written or verbal instructions.
• Ability to perform arithmetic calculations involving fractions, decimals, and percentages.
• Ability to understand and follow verbal or demonstrated instructions.

Responsibilities

• Provides prompt, efficient and friendly customer service by exhibiting caring, concern and patience in all customer interactions.
• Smiles and greets customers in a friendly manner.
• Assists customers by escorting them to products, securing out-of-reach items, and loading/unloading heavy items.
• Answers the telephone promptly and provides friendly service.
• Works with co-workers as a team to ensure customer satisfaction.
• Operates cash register accurately and scans products.
• Redeems promotional coupons, food stamps, and issues rain checks.
• Places merchandise in bags or boxes and assists courtesy personnel.
• Answers customer questions and concerns.
• Stocks, faces, and rotates merchandise, cleans shelves, and knows the location of merchandise.
• Maintains a clean register area and ensures adequate supplies.
• Compares cash register totals with currency to verify balances.
• Maintains strict adherence to personal hygiene and dress guidelines.
