About The Position
This opening is for a Checker position at the Schnucks location at 1400 Forum Blvd, Columbia, MO 65203. The role offers 20-25 hours per week, and candidates must be available until 10 PM. This description outlines the major responsibilities a new hire can expect, focusing on providing friendly and courteous service, accurately processing customer purchases, handling various payment methods, and maintaining cash security. The position also involves identifying produce items, managing coupons, bagging orders, and performing other duties as assigned by store management. Training will be provided at the store level. Requirements
- Must be 18 years or older to apply
- Must be available till 10pm
- Must be able to lift up to 25 pounds
- Must be able to work on feet entire shift (4-8 hours)
- For internal Store/Facility Teammates: minimum of six months employment with Schnucks preferred
- For internal Store Support Center Teammates: minimum of one year employment with Schnucks preferred
- For internal candidates: Must be in good standing (not on a performance improvement plan or active discipline)
- For internal candidates: If invited for an interview, must have manager approval based on performance
Responsibilities
- Provide friendly and courteous service to customers
- Regular, reliable attendance is an essential function of the job.
- Greet customers prior to checking their order
- Check out customer’s purchases accurately
- Identify and know produce items and be able to properly use produce and product codes
- Distinguish between manufacturer coupons and Schnucks coupons
- Process manufacturer coupons
- Collect correct amount due from customer
- Use proper procedure of accepting cash, checks, debit cards, credit cards, EBT cards, WIC vouchers and other payment options
- Complete register record accurately
- Practice and maintain cash security
- Bag customer orders
- Change register receipt and coupon machine tapes
- Other duties may be assigned at the discretion of store management
