About The Position
This position is for a Checker, responsible for providing friendly and courteous service to customers. Key duties include greeting customers, accurately checking out purchases, identifying produce items, properly using produce and product codes, distinguishing and processing manufacturer and Schnucks coupons, collecting correct payments (cash, checks, debit/credit cards, EBT, WIC), completing register records accurately, practicing cash security, bagging customer orders, and changing register receipt and coupon machine tapes. Other duties may be assigned by store management. Training will be provided at the store level. Requirements
- 18yrs+ to apply
- Must be able to lift up to 25 pounds
- Working on feet entire shift (4-8 hours)
- For internal candidates: Must be in good standing (not on a performance improvement plan or active discipline).
- For internal candidates: If invited for an interview, must have manager approval based on performance.
Nice To Haves
- For internal Store/Facility Teammates: minimum of six months employment with Schnucks preferred.
- For internal Store Support Center Teammates: minimum of one year employment with Schnucks preferred.
Responsibilities
- Provide friendly and courteous service to customers
- Regular, reliable attendance is an essential function of the job.
- Greet customers prior to checking their order
- Check out customer’s purchases accurately
- Identify and know produce items and be able to properly use produce and product codes
- Distinguish between manufacturer coupons and Schnucks coupons
- Process manufacturer coupons
- Collect correct amount due from customer
- Use proper procedure of accepting cash, checks, debit cards, credit cards, EBT cards, WIC vouchers and other payment options
- Complete register record accurately
- Practice and maintain cash security
- Bag customer orders
- Change register receipt and coupon machine tapes
- Other duties may be assigned at the discretion of store management
