  • Reporting for assigned shifts on time and regularly.
  • Communicating clearly and demonstrating suitable physical abilities to perform assigned tasks.
  • Promoting sales through active discussions with guests and offering product recommendations.
  • Scanning items to record prices and totaling purchases using the register system.
  • Tendering various forms of payment for guest purchases.
  • Counting back guests' change for cash transactions.
  • Counting and verifying money in the cash drawer at the beginning and end of shifts.
  • Recording daily transaction amounts to balance the cash drawer.
  • Weighing items, bagging merchandise, and redeeming promotional coupons.
  • Maintaining work area and replenishing inventory of necessary supplies.
  • Mentoring new associates and assuring a positive learning environment.
  • Participating in the store's accident reduction plan.
  • High school diploma or GED; or one to three months related experience and/or training.
  • Ability to read and comprehend simple instructions and communicate effectively.
  • Mathematical skills using units of American money and weight measurement.
  • Common sense understanding to carry out instructions in written or oral form.
  • Meets the state minimum requirement to sell tobacco and/or alcohol.
  • Valid Driver's License or State I.D. Card.
  • Experience in a retail environment.
  • Customer service experience.
