About The Position

The Checker/Stocker position in the Grocery department is a non-exempt role that provides prompt, efficient, and friendly service to customers. This includes operating a cash register, packaging products, working with drive-up and/or carry-out, and replenishing products as needed. The role also involves unloading products, opening containers, stocking shelves, and rotating products where necessary.

Requirements

• Must be able to carry out detailed but uninvolved written or verbal instructions.
• Ability to perform arithmetic calculations involving fractions, decimals, and percentages.
• Ability to understand and follow verbal or demonstrated instructions.
• No education or experience requirements.

Responsibilities

• Provides prompt, efficient and friendly customer service by exhibiting caring, concern and patience in all customer interactions.
• Smiles and greets customers in a friendly manner.
• Assists customers by escorting them to products, securing out-of-reach items, and loading/unloading heavy items.
• Answers the telephone promptly and provides friendly service.
• Works with co-workers as a team to ensure customer satisfaction.
• Operates cash register accurately and processes transactions.
• Stocks, faces, and rotates merchandise, cleans shelves, and understands shelf tags.
• Maintains a clean register area and ensures adequate supplies are available.
• Complies with local, state, and federal guidelines regarding sales of tobacco, liquor, and lottery tickets.
• Reports to work when scheduled and on time.
