About The Position

The Examining Authority Check Instructor is responsible for conducting End of Course examinations under the school’s FAA-approved Self-Examining Authority in accordance with 14 CFR Part 141 and all applicable sections of the Code of Federal Regulations. This position plays a critical role in ensuring standardization, regulatory compliance, and the integrity of student certification for the Private Pilot Certificate and Instrument Rating. In addition to examining authority duties, this individual contributes to flight training, maintenance support, and academic oversight across the school’s training programs. Overview: Started in 2012 by a husband and wife team, Blue Line Aviation is a professional pilot school located at the Johnston Regional Airport in Smithfield, NC and Winter Haven Regional Airport in Winter Haven, FL. We strive to push the status quo in flight training while providing quality and innovative training to our students.

Requirements

  • Hold a valid FAA Certified Flight Instructor (CFI) certificate; CFII required.
  • Meet all FAA requirements to conduct instruction for initial CFI applicants.
  • Demonstrated understanding of Part 141 training requirements, ACS/PTS standards, Company Training Course Outline, and FAA certification procedures.
  • Strong communication skills with the ability to objectively assess student performance.
  • Hold a Second Class FAA Medical Certificate or First Class FAA Medical Certificate
  • 1000 Hours Total Time
  • 500 Hours Dual Given

Nice To Haves

  • FAA Certified Flight Instructor - Instrument (CFII) and Certified Flight Instructor - Multiengine (MEI).
  • Experience conducting stage checks, progress checks, or standardization evaluations in a Part 141 or Part 61 environment.
  • Previous experience under Examining Authority at a Part 141 institution.
  • FAA maintenance certification(s) (e.g., A&P) or documented experience assisting with maintenance operations.
  • Bachelor’s degree in Aviation, Aeronautical Science, or a related field.
  • Prior experience in curriculum standardization, training quality assurance, or aviation education management.

Responsibilities

  • Conduct End-of-Course (EOC) examinations for students seeking a Private Pilot Certificate or Instrument Rating, ensuring full compliance with Part 141 and associated FAA regulations.
  • Perform thorough assessments of student knowledge, skill, risk management, and regulatory compliance during examinations.
  • Issue course completion endorsements and certification recommendations in accordance with examining authority procedures.
  • Conduct stage check examinations for Private Pilot, Instrument Pilot, and Commercial Pilot academies to determine student readiness for stage progression.
  • Provide training to initial Certified Flight Instructor (CFI) applicants enrolled in the CFI Academy, delivering high-quality instructional services that meet FAA standards.
  • Maintain a high level of standardization consistent with school policies and FAA requirements
  • Review, validate, and maintain accuracy of all student training records, including logbooks, syllabus progress, and online training documentation.
  • Assist the maintenance department on an as-needed basis, performing duties aligned with the individual’s maintenance certifications and qualifications.
  • Coordinate with maintenance personnel to support operational readiness and aircraft availability.
  • Maintain current knowledge of FAA regulations, school policies, and industry standards.
  • Support safety, quality assurance, and standardization initiatives across the training organization.
  • Complete tasks, projects, and assignments as directed by the Vice President of Operations or Flight School Director.
