The Chassis Engineer oversees the development of products from concept to prototype and validation and through launch. This position also works closely with other mechanical and electrical DREs to design and package products including suspension stamped brackets, castings, hardware, leaf springs/shocks, and the sway bar. Ability to track and resolve performance issues. Leading the development of concepts, prototyping, validation and launching them into production. Work with minimal supervision in a fast-paced agile R&D engineering development environment where you can exercise freedom to innovate and explore new methods and solutions. Develop a class 4,5 and 6 Chassis system to satisfy our requirements. Support the ideation process while identifying gaps in the current product or manufacturing technology to guide and provide future R&D efforts. Evaluate technologies and product designs with compliance to company standards, customer requirements and related specifications. Lead the design and packaging for Suspension hangers and components including suspension Stamped brackets, castings, hardware, leaf springs/shocks, and sway bar. Strong understanding in steering mechanisms, and the ability to define suspension hard points and be able to package the steering components accordingly. Steering system sizing knowledge. 3D design (work closely with designers to finalize parts 3D CAD models) Kick off 2D drawings that include all essential call outs (materials, GD&T & Weld callouts) Work with the CAE team to ensure the design parts meet the design loads. Create DFMEAs for suspension/Steering components Create DVPRs for suspension/Steering components
