(HATCI) is seeking a passionate Design Engineer II to support the design, development, and validation Brake Systems for U.S. SUV, pickup truck and off-road vehicles. In this role, you will leverage your mechanical engineering skills to create robust, high-performance Braking Systems. You will work closely with cross-functional teams (Other Chassis groups, powertrain, body, electrical, manufacturing, etc.) to ensure seamless integration, meet customer requirements, and achieve durability and reliability goals. The ideal candidate has a minimum of 3 years of hands-on Chassis – Brake System experience in an automotive OEM or Tier-1 environment, is proficient in a CAD system (CATIA V5 preferred, will accept NX or Solidworks), and demonstrates mentoring skills and the willingness to be taught. Candidates applying for positions with Hyundai-Kia must be legally authorized to work in the United States, verification of employment eligibility will be required at the time of hire.WHAT YOU WILL DO• Support Brake System Design: Be engaged in the end-to-end design of Braking components (e.g. hydraulic boosters, calipers, rotors, pads, actuators) using CATIA V5. Generate detailed 3D models and 2D drawings, and be responsible for CAD release for prototyping and production. Some CATIA V5 training is available in house.• Support Mechanical Analysis: Support detailed engineering analysis (FEA, multi-body simulation, NVH studies, etc.) to predict brake performance, durability and noise-vibration-harshness (NVH) characteristics. Iterate designs based on simulation and test data to optimize stopping power and reliability.• Support Concept Development: Support development of and documentation of Brake System concepts and packaging layouts, considering vehicle geometry, on and off-road requirements, performance, etc. Ensure concepts align with project requirements and standards.• Validation Planning & Testing: Support validation plans for Brake systems. This includes supporting the creation of test plans, Supporting prototype builds, bench and full-vehicle tests (durability, NVH, ride comfort, handling, off-road performance etc). Support correlation of test data with simulation results and follow requests for design refinements as needed.• Supplier Coordination: Collaborate with Tier-1 suppliers on component design and development. Support technical direction and review supplier CAD models and drawings. Support the supplier design review process and ensure supplier deliverables meet specifications and quality standards.• Design Review & Documentation: Support and participate in design reviews, DFMEA/PFMEA sessions, and design-for-manufacturing discussions.
