About The Position

The Security Officer is responsible for the safety and security of all our guests, employees and visitors of the hotel. They are responsible for protection of all hotel assets, ensuring that hotel security policies and procedures in accordance with Sonesta Hotels International corporate guidelines are enforced and that the hotel is in full compliance to all local, state and federal regulations. The Security officer also performs hotel security functions, to include fire prevention, safety, investigation, and resolution of guest and employee complaints regarding safety and security matters.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • One year of security and safety experience or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Fluent in English.
  • Certification in safety and training and/or licensed as a Security Officer or Law Enforcement Officer may be required.
  • Certified CPR, First Aid instructor and training in law enforcement techniques may be required or highly desired.
  • Working knowledge of local laws, investigation methods, OSHA requirements, and fire codes.
  • Problem solving, reasoning, motivating, organizational, and training abilities.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience in a hotel or hospitality environment.
  • Additional certifications in security or safety training.

Responsibilities

  • Perform daily inspection and ensure compliance of hotel security and safety requirements and procedures.
  • Patrolling and inspecting assigned areas including public areas, meeting rooms, entrances, and outside building and grounds.
  • Monitoring surveillance cameras and checking areas for unauthorized persons or vehicles.
  • Maintaining security procedures and audit/department logs.
  • Ensuring all guest room doors are secured and assisting guests with room access.
  • Escorting staff and guests to cars if requested.
  • Inspecting purses, packages, or bags of employees as designated by management.
  • Investigating loss and safety incidents involving guests and employees.
  • Completing documented reports in accordance with company and hotel policies.
  • Responding courteously and promptly to all guest-related incidents, questions, complaints, and requests.
  • Assisting in training/educating employees on current safety and security issues.
  • Informing management of hazardous situations, emergencies, or threats.
  • Scheduling preventative maintenance and repairs to security equipment.
