About The Position

Reporting directly to EVP Cargo, the Director of Cargo Charter is a commercial leadership role responsible for driving cargo charter revenue and expanding the company’s footprint across the U.S. and international air cargo markets. This role combines hands-on chartering expertise with strategic leadership, client development, and operational oversight across time-critical and complex cargo movements. This role is remote with travel to our Member Operations Center in Chamblee, GA approximately every 2 months.

Requirements

  • 10+ years of experience in air cargo chartering with a strong revenue track record.
  • Proven leadership experience managing and growing cargo charters.
  • Deep understanding of global air cargo markets, aircraft capabilities, and charter pricing dynamics.
  • Strong knowledge of regulatory, contractual, and risk considerations in cargo charter operations.
  • Exceptional negotiation, relationship management, and commercial decision-making skills.

  • Bachelor’s degree preferred; logistics, aviation, or business background advantageous.

Responsibilities

  • Own and deliver cargo charter revenue targets across domestic and international markets.
  • Develop and execute the U.S. cargo charter strategy aligned with overall business growth objectives.
  • Personally manage and grow a portfolio of high-value clients, including freight forwarders, logistics providers, manufacturers, energy, aerospace, humanitarian, and government accounts.
  • Identify new cargo charter opportunities across sectors such as Time Critical, Aerospace, Sports and Events, Project cargo, Aid & Relief, Pharmaceuticals, and Defence.
  • Oversee end-to-end cargo charter transactions, from aircraft sourcing through contract execution and post-flight review.
  • Source and negotiate aircraft solutions across narrowbody, widebody, and freighter fleets.
  • Ensure compliance with FAA, TSA, IATA, and international regulatory requirements.
  • Act as senior escalation point for complex, high-value, or time-critical charter movements.
  • Build senior-level relationships with cargo airlines, aircraft owners, operators, and ACMI providers.
  • Negotiate preferred pricing, capacity access, and long-term charter agreements.
  • Strengthen strategic partnerships with freight forwarders, integrators, and global logistics providers.
  • Represent the company at industry events, trade shows, and client meetings across the U.S. and internationally.
  • Partner with executive leadership, operations, safety, legal, and finance teams to ensure seamless charter execution.
  • Provide market intelligence on capacity trends, rates, competitor activity, and geopolitical impacts.
  • Support development of new cargo charter products and service offerings.
