About The Position

The Chargemaster Manager is responsible for the overall maintenance, accuracy, and integrity of the organization’s chargemaster (CDM). This role ensures that all services, supplies, and procedures are coded, priced, and billed in compliance with federal and state regulations, payer requirements, and organizational standards. The Chargemaster Manager partners closely with operational, clinical, financial, and compliance teams to optimize revenue capture, maintain compliant charge structures, and support process improvements that reduce charge errors and denials.

Requirements

  • 3–5 years of experience in chargemaster management, revenue integrity, hospital billing, or a similar role.
  • Strong understanding of CPT, HCPCS, revenue codes, UB-04 billing, and regulatory guidelines.
  • Experience working with electronic health record (EHR) systems and CDM management tools.
  • Associate’s degree in Healthcare Administration, Business, Finance, Health Information Management, or a related field.
  • One or more of the following: Certified Healthcare Financial Professional (CHFP), Certified Revenue Cycle Representative (CRCR)

Nice To Haves

  • Bachelor’s degree in Healthcare Administration, Business, Finance, Health Information Management, Nursing, or related discipline.
  • 5+ years of experience in CDM management within a hospital or multi-facility health system.
  • Experience leading charge capture or revenue integrity improvement initiatives.
  • One or more of the following: Certified Coding Specialist (CCS), Certified Professional Coder (CPC)

Responsibilities

  • Oversee the ongoing maintenance and accuracy of the organization’s chargemaster, including additions, deletions, and modifications.
  • Ensure all charge codes are compliant with current regulatory, CMS, and payer billing guidelines.
  • Collaborate with clinical departments to validate chargeable services, standardize charging practices, and support departmental charge capture accuracy.
  • Conduct regular audits of charge capture workflows to identify errors, missing charges, or compliance risks.
  • Partner with Revenue Integrity, Coding, HIM, and Finance teams to resolve revenue leakage issues and improve overall charge capture performance.
  • Serve as the primary subject matter expert for all CDM-related inquiries and provide training to stakeholders across departments.
  • Monitor regulatory updates, billing changes, CPT/HCPCS updates, and payer policies and ensure timely CDM implementation.
  • Lead or participate in system upgrades, price transparency initiatives, and CDM-related IT projects.
  • Provides data for and assists in the development of revenue budgets.
  • Develops fee and cost schedules or pricing policies and coordinates changes to the CDM.
  • Leads and directs the work of direct reports.
  • Lead and maintain documentation of CDM processes, governance, and update cycles.
  • Support month-end and year-end reconciliation processes related to charging and revenue.
