The Charge System Administrator at CareWell Health is responsible for maintaining the Charge Description Master (CDM) to ensure accuracy and compliance with regulations. This role involves updating the CDM based on clinical department requests and new regulations from the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services (CMS). The administrator will coordinate with various departments to implement necessary changes and resolve issues related to charge capture and billing.

  • Maintain the CareWell Health CDM by incorporating new charges/services and updating existing charges.
  • Manage daily operations of the CDM and ensure timely processing of requests and resolution of issues.
  • Ensure ongoing accuracy and integrity of the CDM by coordinating with performing departments.
  • Implement necessary changes to charge documents and charge capture processes.
  • Resolve problems causing payer denial or failed Medicare edits related to the charge master.
  • Manage coding/regulatory changes and reviews involving the CDM with appropriate departments.
  • Coordinate with Patient Financial Services, Health Information, and coding professionals to ensure compliance with billing guidelines.
  • Manage CDM Cerner projects including documentation, file building, testing, validation, and implementation.
  • Resolve CDM, non-CDM, and CPT table Cerner issues for all hospital areas.
  • Collaborate with Cerner financial and clinical teams to maintain charging parameters in clinical systems.
  • Ensure compliance of charging/coding aspects of clinical Cerner systems with regulatory and hospital pricing guidelines.
  • Review account issues, add charges, and troubleshoot Cerner and billing issues.
  • Create and analyze daily CDM dashboard reports.
  • Develop report specifications and collaborate with Business Intelligence for operational reporting needs.
  • Build new charges by reviewing, assigning, and validating CPT, HCPCS, and revenue codes and set prices.
  • Work collaboratively with revenue-producing department staff and IT to ensure accurate charge capture and documentation.
  • Manage upgrades, user troubleshooting, and administrative responsibilities for CDM/charging/pricing software programs.
  • Educate EOGH departments and physicians on the charge master and charging philosophy.
  • Bachelor's level degree or equivalent relevant years of experience.
  • Minimum of 3 or more years of experience in a related hospital billing department.
  • Strong computer skills (i.e. Microsoft Office Suite, Google Business, etc.).
  • Knowledge of Epic clinical and financial systems.
  • Maintain continual knowledge on government & third-party regulations.
