About The Position

The Charge Nurse is responsible for supervising staff and the operation and overall flow of the unit on his/her designated shift, and is a role model for all staff. He/she is responsible for coordinating unit schedules and staff assignments and participating in the performance appraisal process. The Charge Nurse is responsible for ensuring staffs meet the approved Standards of Practice, for managing assigned personnel and unit activities and for promoting cooperative working relationships with physicians and other health care providers. Provides patient care as needed. The Charge Nurse is responsible for the internal management of the nursing unit functions and staff, along with the integration of department services into the primary functions of the organization related to patient care and services. The Charge Nurse assumes administrative responsibility for nursing services on assigned unit in accordance with the policies and procedures of the Nursing Department, the Standards of TJC, DMH, the Statutes of the State of California, and hospital policies, goals, and objectives. Completes Utilization Review of Behavioral Health Services. Charge Nurse will have expert knowledge of the regulations and requirements of the department of mental health, Los Angeles County.

Requirements

  • Three years psychiatric nursing experience is required.
  • Excellent customer service skills required.
  • Current RN license in the State of California .
  • BLS required
  • Assaultive Behavior Training Certification that meets AB508 and SB1299 required upon hire/transfer.
  • New hires who have completed Assaultive Behavior training outside of Emanate Health will be required to complete Emanate Health Work Place Violence online awareness module within 30 days of hire/transfer.
  • LPS designation required within 6 months of hire/transfer.
