About The Position

This position is for a Charge Registered Nurse in a Level II Neonatal Intensive Care Unit (NICU) and Mother Baby unit. The NICU has 10 beds and provides advanced, specialized support for newborns requiring additional monitoring or intermediate-level care, allowing families to stay together within the same unit. The role involves taking responsibility and accountability for delivering patient care as part of a multidisciplinary team, utilizing the nursing process, and upholding professional nursing standards. Specifically, the NICU Nurse is responsible for the care of both well and ill newborns who may need neonatal intensive care services. The Birth Center and Pediatrics units are considered 'sister' units, and staff are expected to float between these areas.

Requirements

• Current RN licensure in the state of Iowa
• Must provide proof of Basic Life Support (BLS Provider-American Heart Association or Professional Rescuer-American Red Cross) prior to employment or within 30 days of hire and maintains current status
• Must provide proof of Mandatory Reporting for Child and Dependent Adult Abuse training prior to employment or within 6 months of hire and maintain current status per State of Iowa guidelines
• Completes Neonatal Resuscitation Program (NRP) – American Heart Association within 6 months of hire and maintains current status

Nice To Haves

• Bachelor of Science in Nursing preferred
• Previous experience in well or ill newborn, and / or obstetric care and / or acute care preferred

Responsibilities

• Float between Birth Center and Pediatrics units
