About The Position

Provides supervision and leadership to assigned nursing care unit for the shift worked. Are accountable for all the nursing activities in assigned area which includes, but not limited to the effective delivery of safe, competent, compassionate and efficient care. Ensures nursing staff comply with the written policies and procedures established by VVGMC. Periodically review the department's policies, procedure manuals, etc. and make recommendations for revisions. The Charge Nurse is the on the ground leader (front line person) who has the responsibility and capability to assess the day-to-day situations and initiate the actions needed to address issues at hand. This role has direct responsibilities that are both clinical and operational in nature. Must possess leadership and supervisory ability and the willingness to work harmoniously with and supervise other employees. Performs all other duties as assigned. Cares for the patient in the operating room for an emergent cesarean birth.

Requirements

  • Graduate of an accredited school of nursing preferred.
  • A minimum of one year of RN experience in acute care setting.
  • Current California RN license
  • BLS certification
  • ACLS and NRP required.
  • Basic Fetal Monitoring certificate is required upon hire or status change.
  • Must obtain Advanced Fetal Monitoring Certificate within 1 year of hire or status change and every 2 years thereafter (unless have Electronic Fetal Monitoring).
  • Electronic Fetal Monitoring will be accepted in lieu of Basic and Advanced Fetal Monitoring, and must keep renewed and current.
